Waimea Man Charged With Multiple Drug Offenses Following Search Warrant

Hawaiʻi Island police arrested and charged a Waimea man with numerous drug offenses following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at his residence on Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 2025.

At 9:10 a.m., Vice officers arrested 46-year-old Joel Gorai after recovering the following from his home:

  • 24.16 grams of methamphetamine
  • 21.7 grams of cocaine
  • 381.7 grams of marijuana
  • 17.2 grams of marijuana edibles
  • 14 grams of marijuana concentrate (vapes)
  • 50 grams of Psilocybin
  • various narcotic-related paraphernalia, including digital scales and clean and used zip packets.

After conferring with the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office, Vice detectives charged Gorai with the following offenses:

  • Four counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
  • One count of Second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug
  • Two counts of First-degree promotion of a harmful drug
  • Two counts of fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug

Gorai’s total bail was set at  $143,025.
