(Update)Man Charged with Multiple Offenses Following Firearm Incident in Hilo

As part of their continuing investigation into a firearms incident in Hilo on Wednesday evening, Sept. 16, 2026, Hawai‘i Island police have charged 37-year-old Lake Charles Lively with multiple offenses stemming from three separate criminal investigations.

At 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, South Hilo patrol officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Iloko Street in Hilo following a report of a male in possession of a firearm making threatening statements.

Upon officers’ arrival, Lively fled the area on foot. Police made area checks throughout the early morning hours and located Lively at 7:22 a.m., on Thursday, in the 600 block of Ponohawai Street, where he was arrested.

Following his arrest, detectives from the Area I Juvenile Aid Section continued the investigation and identified Lively as a suspect in three separate criminal investigations initiated within the previous 24 hours. The investigations involved multiple violations of a temporary restraining order, burglary, and terroristic threatening involving a firearm.

On Friday, Sept. 18, Hawaiʻi Island police charged Lively with the following offenses:

• First-degree terroristic threatening
• Four counts of violation of a temporary restraining order
• Two counts of ownership or possession prohibited
• Two counts of first-degree burglary
• Fourth-degree theft
• Harassment by stalking

Lively’s bail was set at $374,000. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Monday, Sept. 21, in Hilo District Court.
