(Update) Police Identify Body Found in Waimea

Hawai’i Island police have identified the body of the deceased individual who was discovered in Waimea as 64-year-old Sarah Marie Andes of Honoka‘a (Report #: 26-055247). Andes was previously reported as an endangered missing person on June 3, 2026 (Report #: 26-047239).

On Tuesday morning, June 30, Hawaiʻi Island police initiated a coroner’s inquest following the discovery of a decomposed body in a stream near the 65-1200 block of Kawaihae Road. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition.

An autopsy conducted on Monday, July 7, positively identified the decedent as Sarah Marie Andes. The cause of death remains undetermined pending toxicology results. Foul play is not suspected. At this time police have not been able to contact any family members or next of kin.
