(Update) Police Announce Cause of Death of Elderly Nāʻālehu Woman

The Hawai‘i Police Department reports that an autopsy was conducted Thursday, August 20, 2026, on 93-year-old May Doi of Nāʻālehu. Doi was reported missing to police on Sunday, August 16, at 11 a.m. and located deceased on Monday, August 17, at 12:30 p.m. The autopsy determined that the cause of death was storm-related injuries.

The investigation into Doi’s death remain ongoing.
