(Update #2) Police Provide Autopsy Findings in Ocean View Officer Involved Shooting

On Friday, Oct. 9. 2026, an autopsy was conducted on 31-year-old Nafetelai Teisina of Ocean View, who was shot and killed during an officer involved shooting in Ocean View on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026. The pathologist who conducted the autopsy today determined that Teisina died from a single shot wound. The official report is awaiting toxicology results.

Body worn camera footage of the incident was distributed to credentialed media earlier today.

The investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing. The Hawai‘i Police Department Office of Professional Standards has initiated a critical incident review as is standard practice in officer-involved shootings. The officer who fired his firearm has been placed on administrative leave until he is medically cleared to return to work.
