The Hawai‘i Police Department’s Kona Community Policing Section, in partnership with the Kona Costco, and the Hawai‘i Food Basket is pleased to announce the sixth annual Fill A Police Cruiser Food Drive slated for Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Kona Costco warehouse parking lot.

A blue and white marked police cruiser will be stationed in front of Costco, where Costco members and the general public are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items. Donors will have the opportunity to place their contributions directly into the police cruiser and take a photo with officers participating in the event.

All donated non-perishable food items and monetary contributions will be distributed by The Food Basket, Hawaiʻi Island’s Food Bank, to individuals and families in need across Hawaiʻi Island.

Now in its sixth year, the Fill A Police Cruiser Food Drive was established during the COVID-19 pandemic in response to the overwhelming demand for food assistance among kupuna and other members of our community. The need for food assistance has continued to grow as many residents face ongoing economic challenges. This annual event provides a simple and meaningful way for the community to help neighbors in need by donating essential food items.

Over the past five years, the Fill A Police Cruiser Food Drive has collected more than 47,081 pounds of food and $ 85,024 in monetary donations.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department and its community partners encourage everyone to participate in this year’s event. Every donation, large or small, helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families facing food insecurity.
