Officers with the Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Hilo Community Policing Section recently provided more than 200 Keiki Identification (ID) cards to young players during a statewide youth baseball tournament on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025. The event was a tremendous success, allowing officers to connect with keiki and their families while offering an important community safety service.

In all, 34 teams from across the state participated in the tournament, which was held at the Walter Victor Baseball Complex in Hilo.

Police extend a heartfelt mahalo to Gigi Napoleon for inviting officers to participate, as well as to the County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation for providing space for the Keiki ID booth.

In addition to these larger events, the Hilo Community Policing Section offers free Keiki ID services on a quarterly basis in partnership with the Hilo Public Library. The next Hilo Library Keiki ID event is planned for mid-December, date ad time to be determined. The public is encouraged to visit Hawaiʻi Police Department’s website, www.hawaiipolice.gov, and check the “Events” page for upcoming dates and details on future Keiki ID events.
