The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Kona Community Policing Section would like to thank Miss Orchid Isle’s Teen Diamond Kawaauhau, as well as all the participants and sponsors who helped make the HI-PAL Community Cleanup and Fun Day in Hōnaunau on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, such a successful event.

Approximately 60 volunteers participated in the cleanup along Keala O Keawe Road, collecting about 15 bags of trash, resulting in a noticeable improvement to the area.

Following the cleanup, participants gathered at the Hōnaunau Rodeo Arena for a community Fun Day celebration that included live entertainment, raffle prizes, and a light lunch. The event provided an opportunity for community members, families, and officers to connect and celebrate their shared efforts, highlighting the strong partnership between Kona Community Policing officers and the community they serve.

Live entertainment featured the 2025 Kona HI-PAL Youth Music Showcase winners Nā Leo Kū, who performed several songs including their single “Kona Embrace,” released Dec. 26, 2025. Also performing were 2025 Kona HI-PAL Youth Music Showcase top performers London West and Lily Malapit, along with special guest performances by Grammy-nominated LT Smooth and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Kenny Tagavilla.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department extends its appreciation to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to the cleanup effort, as well as to the performers who helped make the event a success. Additional thanks go to Kailua-Kona McDonald’s for donating breakfast sandwiches and ice; Bryan Fujikawa, owner of Kona Grill House Catering, for providing lunch; and KBXtreme, Body Glove, Kuleana Rum Works, and Mohala Koʻlective Beauty for their generous raffle prize donations.
