Police Thank Big Island Community for Successful Badges and Buckets Fundraiser

The Hawai‘i Police Department would like thank our Hawai‘i Island communities for helping to make the recent Badges and Buckets fundraiser a huge success. Badges and Buckets is Special Olympics Hawai‘i’s largest annual grassroots fundraiser of the year. Our Special Olympics delegations are extremely grateful for such a tremendous showing of support in this 23^rd year the event has been held on island. 

Held at the Kona Walmart Store from Friday, September 11, through Sunday, September 13, and at the Hilo Walmart store on Thursday, September 17, through Saturday, September 19, 2026, the fundraiser featured off-duty officers, volunteers, and Special Olympics athletes raising awareness and collecting donations for Special Olympics Hawai‘i.

Through your many generous donations, the two fundraisers for Special Olympics Hawai‘i raised a total of $47,636.45! 

We are truly humbled by our community’s support, which will directly benefit Special Olympics Hawai‘i and their efforts to provide year-round sports programs for athletes, including opportunities to participate in regional and national competitions.
