Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspects in Weapons Incident in Kona

Hawai‘i Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a weapons incident that occurred on Monday evening, July 28, 2025, at 11:15 p.m., in the area of the Kailua Pier on Ali‘i Drive in Kailua-Kona.
Two male victims, a 30-year-old from Kona and a 25-year-old from Waimea, reported that while near the Kailua Pier, they were confronted by two younger males accompanied by a young female. During the confrontation, one of the male suspects brandished an unidentified type of firearm and discharged three rounds in the direction of the victims. There were no other people in the vicinity of where the shots were fired. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The suspects and the female then fled the area east (mauka) on Palani Road in a newer model white SUV, possibly a Honda CR-V or similar vehicle.
The male suspects are described as being in their late teens to early 20s, both approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with thin builds and light complexions. The young woman with them is described as being in her late teens to early 20s, between 5 feet to 2 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a skinny build and light complexion.
