Police Launch Coroner’s Inquest After Body Found in Kona

On Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at 7:27 a.m., Kona patrol officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man in a grassy area near businesses in the 74-5000 block of Kaiwi Street.

Upon arrival, officers determined the man was deceased. At this time, there are no indications of foul play. The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Kona Patrol Division. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact of death. The person’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
