Police Investigating Fatal Structure Fire in Ocean View
Hawai‘i Island police are investigating a fatal structure fire that occurred early Wednesday morning, Dec. 24, 2025, in the Hawaii Ocean View Estates subdivision in Ocean View.
Police and Hawai‘i Fire Department personnel were dispatched at 2:07 a.m., to a reported structure fire at a residence in the 92-9200 block of Reef Parkway. Upon arrival, responders found the structure fully engulfed in flames. After firefighters extinguished the fire, a severely burned body was discovered within the residence.
Detectives with the Area II Criminal Investigation Section and inspectors from the Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation. The identity of the victim and the cause of the fire remain under investigation.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
The structure and contents, with an estimated value of $40,000, were a total loss.
