Police Investigating Captain Cook Structure Fire

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a structure fire that occurred Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2026, in Captain Cook.

At 3:18 p.m., Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a structure fire in the 87-400 block of Kaohe Road. When they arrived on scene, the residence was fully engulfed in flames and Hawaiʻi Fire Department personnel were working to put out the fire, which was extinguished at 3:56 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and arson is not suspected. No injuries were reported, and the estimated cost of damages has not yet been determined.
