Police Investigating Body Found in Hilo

The Hawai’i Police Department is investigating the death of an unidentified adult male whose body was found on Kuawa Street, in Hilo, Hawaii.

On Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 07:06 am, South Hilo Patrol Officers responded to Kuawa Park located at 79 Kuawa Street, in Hilo, Hawaii, for a report of an unresponsive male near the fence at the park. Officers located the body of an adult male laying on ground near the fence line on the north shoulder of Kuawa Street fronting the park with suspicious injuries. Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section and Evidence Specialists responded to the scene. The name of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification and notifying any next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, September 16, 2026, to determine the exact cause of death.
