Police Identify Victim in Wild Ginger Inn Fire in October

Hawai’i Island police have identified the man who died on Oct. 22, 2025, in the Wild Ginger Inn structure fire on Puueo Street in Hilo. The victim has been identified as 66-year-old Gerald James O’Grady, who was a tenant of the building.

An autopsy was performed and final results are pending; however, police and Hawai’i Fire Department investigators do not suspect foul play.
