Hawai‘i Island police detectives have identified the remains of man reported missing in December 2015 as 50-year-old Eddie Steve Seenarine of Volcano.

In June of this year, police were alerted to the discovery of human skeletal remains in a forested area on the 11-3800 block of 6th Avenue in Volcano, which is in close proximity to where Seenarine lived.

The remains were identified as Seenarine by DNA comparison. A forensic pathologist and forensic anthropologist conducted separate examinations of the remains and concluded there were no traumatic injuries or indication of foul play.
