The Hawaiʻi Police Activities League (HI-PAL), in partnership with the Mynah Byrdz Baseball Club, congratulates all participants of the fourth annual HI-PAL Tee Ball/Coach Pitch Baseball Tournament.

More than 250 players ages 4 to 8, representing 21 teams, along with 1,000 spectators, attended the event, which was held Saturday, Jan. 24, and Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at Hualani Baseball Park in the Keaukaha area of Hilo.

Throughout the weekend, participants practiced fundamental baseball skills in an environment that emphasized teamwork, confidence and sportsmanship. Hawaiʻi Police Department Community Policing officers were also on site providing free Keiki ID services and opportunities for positive interaction between officers, keiki and their families.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department extends special thanks to Officer Darren Abalos, Officer Jared Cabatu, his team and the many volunteers whose dedication and support contributed to the event’s success.

The partnership between HI-PAL and the Mynah Byrdz Baseball Club continues to grow, and the Hawaiʻi Police Department looks forward to continued collaboration. The HI-PAL program, a component of the Hawaiʻi Police Department, focuses on building positive relationships between police officers and youth through mentorship, teamwork, citizenship and healthy decision-making.

Community groups interested in hosting a HI-PAL event in their area are encouraged to contact the Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Community Policing officers at (808) 961-8849.
