Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged a 31-year-old Pāhala man with multiple offenses stemming from an incident that involved several victims at a shopping complex in Pāhala on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026.

Just before 1:00 p.m. Friday, Ka‘ū patrol officers responded to a shopping center in the 96-3100 block of Pikake Street for a report of a man pointing a gun on someone.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a 25-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, who reported that a man, later identified Jerry “Mana” Ke, had pointed a pellet gun directly at them in separate instances. The male victim reported Ke pointed the gun directly at his head.

During the incident, Ke physically assaulted the female victim, as well as a bystander who tried to intervene. When a female family member of Ke’s arrived on scene, she was also assaulted by Ke.

Police recovered an air rifle and unknown caliber pellet at the scene.

Ke was arrested at the scene and, after conferring with the Hawai‘i County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, charged with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening
  • Two counts of third-degree assault
  • Abuse of a family household member

Ke’s total bail was set at $13,000 and he remains in police custody in lieu of bail. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5, in Kona District Court.
