Hawai‘i Island police have charged a Puna man following a standoff Friday evening, Dec. 19, 2025, at a residence on the 15-2700 block of Aama Street in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision in Pāhoa.

On Saturday afternoon, Dec. 20, upon conferring with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, 40-year-old George Dale Foote Jr., of Pāhoa, was charged with the following offenses:

  • First-degree terroristic threatening
  • First-degree unauthorized entry into a dwelling
  • First-degree burglary

Foote’s bail for the above charges was set at $220,000. Additionally, Foote was arrested and charged on the strength of two arrest warrants for the offense of violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance, or supervised release, with a total bail of $45,000.

Foote made his initial court appearance on Monday afternoon, Dec. 22, in Hilo District Court.

The charges against Foote stem from an incident reported on Friday evening at 5:40 p.m., when he unlawfully entered the residence of two female acquaintances, looking for his estranged spouse, who was not there at the time. Once within the residence, Foote reportedly threatened the two females, aged 61 and 91 years old. Foote was reportedly in possession of numerous Molotov cocktails and threatened to burn down the residence. Both females managed to escape from their home uninjured and called police.

Responding Puna patrol officers attempted to negotiate with Foote to have him exit the residence, however, he refused. The police department’s Special Response Team’s tactical unit and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene and attempts to negotiate continued. Shortly before midnight Foote exited the residence and was arrested without incident.
