Officer Travis Wong Honored as HISSPA Officer of the Quarter for Q4 2025

South Kohala patrol officer Travis Wong was named Officer of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2025 by the Hawai‘i Island Safety and Security Professionals Association (HISSPA) during a ceremony held on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, in South Kohala. A seven-year veteran of the department, Wong was recognized for his proactive enforcement efforts and commitment to the safety of the South Kohala community.

Since the beginning of 2025, Wong has played a significant role in improving roadway safety throughout the district. Through proactive enforcement, he has issued 556 traffic citations, helping increase compliance with traffic laws and reduce roadway hazards for residents and visitors. His enforcement actions are carried out with professionalism and clear communication, reinforcing public trust while addressing unsafe driving behaviors.

In addition to traffic enforcement, Wong has demonstrated strong judgment and situational awareness in the field. His work has resulted in 10 arrests, including one for driving under the influence, while also investigating 190 reported incidents. His calm and methodical approach during enforcement operations highlights his reliability and commitment to officer and public safety.

Wong also maintains positive relationships with community members and consistently represents the Hawai‘i Police Department through his strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to assist both the public and fellow officers.

“His dedication to public safety and proactive policing make him highly deserving of recognition as HISSPA Officer of the Quarter,” said South Kohala commander Captain Roylen Valera.
