The Hawai‘i Police Department is pleased to announce that Officer Jessica Cook was recently recognized as North Kohala Officer of the Quarter for Q3 2026 in recognition of her outstanding dedication, initiative, and commitment to serving the North Kohala community.

A three-year veteran of the department, Officer Cook has demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and initiative in proactive DUI and traffic enforcement, consistently working to ensure the safety of motorists and the community. Her strong commitment to traffic safety reflects her dedication to protecting lives and maintaining safe roadways.

In addition to her enforcement efforts, Officer Cook has taken on an important mentorship role within the North Kohala district.

“She has consistently gone above and beyond to answer questions, provide guidance, share her knowledge, and ensure that fellow officers are properly supported, particularly with newly assigned recruits,” says North Kohala William Derr. “Her willingness to assist others has made her a valuable resource and a positive influence within the district.”

Throughout the quarter, Officer Cook has also volunteered for numerous special assignments without hesitation. Her proactive presence in the community has served as a deterrent to illegal criminal activity, further demonstrating her commitment to maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

Officer Cook’s dedication was particularly evident during Hurricane Lala, when she played an instrumental role in clearing Highways 250 and 270. She willingly took on physically demanding tasks under challenging conditions, never hesitating to get dirty, endure scratches, or do whatever was necessary to help restore safe passage along these critical roadways. Her actions exemplified her strong work ethic, teamwork, and willingness to go beyond the normal call of duty.

Officer Cook’s initiative, leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to public service make her a highly deserving recipient of the Officer of the Quarter award.
