Kona Man Arrested on Numerous Drug Offenses

Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged a 54-year-old Kailua-Kona man with numerous drug and firearm offenses.

At approximately 6:03 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, the Hawai‘i Police Department’s Vice West Section arrested William Kaohu following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at his residence in the 74-700 block of Paia Place.

During the search of the residence and property, police recovered:

  • 12.2 pounds of methamphetamine and various methamphetamine-related paraphernalia
  • 1.95 pounds (889.6 grams) of marijuana
  • 3 ounces (89.45 grams) of cocaine
  • 19 Oxycodone pills
  • 8.8 grams of marijuana extract
  • A .22 caliber Marlin Glenfield Model 60 rifle
  • Numerous rounds of ammunition (.22 caliber, 40 mm, 5.56, and .311)
  • More than $21,300 in US currency

After conferring with the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office, Vice detectives charged Kaohu with the following offenses:

  • Five counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
  • Two counts of ownership prohibited (rifle/ammunition)
  • Two counts of cruelty to animals
  • First-degree promotion of a detrimental drug
  • Third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
  • Third-degree promotion of a harmful drug
  • Tampering with evidence

Total bail for Kaohu was set at $669,000. He remains in custody awaiting his initial court appearance.
