Police, HI-PAL, and Parks and Recreation Team Up to Host Youth 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Kona

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Kona Community Policing Section, in partnership with the Hawai‘i Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) and Hawai‘i County Parks and Recreation, is now accepting registrations for a youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament open to keiki ages 5 to 14.

The tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24–25, 2026, beginning at 8 a.m. each day at the Kekuaokalani Gym outdoor courts, located at 75-5500 Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona.

Age divisions include 5–6, 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, and 13–14. Teams are limited to a maximum of five players per team.

Participants must present a copy of their birth certificate at check-in. Waiver and roster forms may be requested by emailing Officer Leonard Warren at leonard.warren@hawaiipolice.gov or picked up in person at the Kona Police Station, 74-611 Hale Mākaʻi Place, Kailua-Kona. The deadline to register is Sunday, Jan. 18.

The tournament is part of an ongoing effort by the Kona Community Policing Section and HI-PAL to promote positive youth engagement, teamwork, and healthy activities through sports.
