DUI Stats

During the week of Dec. 15, to Dec. 21, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 16 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Seven of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 883 DUI arrests compared with 939 during the same period last year, a decrease of 5.96 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 977 major crashes so far this year, compared with 963 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 1.45 percent.
To date, there have been 18 fatal crashes, resulting in 20 fatalities compared with 25 fatal crashes, resulting in 28 fatalities for the same time last year. SThis represents a decrease of 28 percent for fatal crashes and 28.57 percent for fatalities.
So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
