DUI Stats

During the week of Dec. 1, to Dec. 7, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested nine motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. One of the drivers was involved in a traffic crash. One driver was under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 849 DUI arrests compared with 902 during the same period last year, a decrease of 5.88 percent.

Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 938 major crashes so far this year, compared with 920 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 1.96 percent.
To date, there have been 18 fatal crashes, resulting in 20 fatalities compared with 25 fatal crashes, resulting in 28 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 28 percent for fatal crashes and 28.57 percent for fatalities.
So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count so far this year is 0 compared to 0 non-traffic fatalities (not on a public roadway) for the same time last year.
