DUI Stats

During the week of July 28, to August 3, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 14 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 544 DUI arrests compared with 575 during the same period last year, a decrease of 5.4 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 621 major crashes so far this year, compared with 581 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 6.9 percent.
To date, there have been 13 fatal crashes, resulting in 14 fatalities compared with 18 fatal crashes, resulting in 20 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 27.78 percent for fatal crashes and 30 percent for fatalities.
So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
