DUI Stats

During the week of July 14, to July 20, 2025 Hawai‘i Island police arrested 13 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Two of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. Two of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 510 DUI arrests compared with 544 during the same period last year, a decrease of 6.25 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 582 major crashes so far this year, compared with 549 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 6.01 percent.

To date, there have been 13 fatal crashes, resulting in 14 compared with 17 fatal crashes, resulting in 19 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 23.53 percent for fatal crashes and 26.32 percent for fatalities.

So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year. 

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
