DUI Stats
During the week of May 5, through May 11, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 18 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Nine of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. Two of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 336 DUI arrests compared with 345 during the same period last year, a decrease of 2.61 percent.

Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 367 major crashes so far this year, compared with 367 major crashes during the same time last year.
To date, there were 11 fatal crashes, resulting in 12 fatalities compared with 14 fatal crashes, resulting in 16 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 21.4 percent for fatal crashes and 25 percent for fatalities.
So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
