For the 10th annual National Coffee With a Cop Day, Hawai‘i Police Department will hold seven Coffee With a Cop events across the island on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, giving residents an opportunity to meet with police officers in their communities over a cup of coffee.

National Coffee With a Cop Day began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and is held annually on the first Wednesday in October. While Hawai‘i Police Department has hosted Coffee With a Cop events in communities around the island in previous years, this year marks the first time the department will hold an event in every district on the same day from Kapaʻau to Kaʻū, Kona, Hāmākua, Hilo, Waimea and Pāhoa.

“Community engagement starts with our officers taking the time to sit down, listen, and talk story with the people we serve,” said Police Chief Reed Mahuna. “These one-on-one conversations give our officers an opportunity to hear directly from residents about what matters to them, build relationships, and better understand the concerns in our communities.

“I encourage everyone to stop by, grab a cup of coffee, and spend some time getting to know the officers who serve your neighborhood.”

These free get togethers have no agendas or speeches, and are an informal way to get to know the police officers in your community. Topics of conversation can range from sharing personal stories to answering questions or even discussing neighborhood or community concerns.

Please join your neighbors and police officers for coffee and conversation at the following locations on Wednesday, October 7:
