Puna Man Arrested for Terroristic Threatening Incident in Hilo

Hawai‘i Island police have arrested 37-year-old Lake Charles Lively in connection with a firearms incident in Hilo on Wednesday evening, Sept. 16, 2026.

At 11:30 p.m., South Hilo patrol officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Iloko Street in Hilo following a report of a male in possession of a firearm making threatening statements.

Upon officers’ arrival, Lively fled the area on foot. Police made area checks throughout the early morning hours, including the vicinity of the 200 block of Haili Street.

At 7:22 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 17, officers located Lively on foot in the 600 block of Ponohawai Street. He was arrested without incident for the following offenses:

• (3 counts) first-degree terroristic threatening
• (2 counts) violation of a temporary restraining order
• First-degree burglary
• Ownership or possession of a firearm prohibited

Lively was transported to the East Hawai‘i Detention Center in Hilo, where he remains in custody pending investigation.
