(Update) Police Identify Victim in Hilo Homicide Investigation

The Hawai’i Police Department is continuing the death investigation of an unidentified adult male whose body was found on Monday, September 14, 2026, on Kuawa Street, in Hilo, Hawaii. The victim has been positively identified as Donald Lawrence Yukitomo, age 76, of Hilo.

An autopsy was preformed today, September 15, 2026, at the Hilo Benioff Medical Center and preliminary results determined that the victim died of a gunshot wound. The case is being investigated as a homicide and Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section are continuing the investigation.

The victim was known to frequent the area of Kuawa Park where he was found deceased and police are asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information regarding the victim or this incident.
