DUI Stats

During the week of June 29, through July 5, 2026, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 25 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Three of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 403 DUI arrests compared with 480 during the same period last year, a decrease of 16.04 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 508 major crashes so far this year, compared with 540 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 7.93 percent.
As of July 5, there have been 15 fatal crashes, resulting in 17 fatalities compared with 13 fatal crashes, resulting in 14 fatalities for the same time last year. This is an increase of 15.38 percent for fatal crashes and 21.43 percent for fatalities.
In 2026, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) was zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
