DUI Stats

During the week of June 8, 2026, through June 14, 2026, Hawai`i Island police arrested 12 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Four of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Three of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 355 DUI arrests compared with 432 during the same period last year. This is a decrease of 17.82 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 449 major crashes so far this year, compared with 484 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 7.23 percent.
As of June 14, there were 14 fatal crashes, resulting in 16 fatalities compared with 12 fatal crashes, resulting in 13 fatalities for the same time last year. This is an increase of 16.67 percent for fatal crashes and 23.08 percent for fatalities.
In 2026, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) was zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
