Police Seeking Missing Woman Joan Sachiko Mayo

Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 61-year-old Joan Sachiko Mayo (formerly Joan Hamamoto) who was reported missing.

Mayo was last seen in the evening on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at a residence on 17th Street in Eden Roc wearing a brownish/apricot short-sleeve shirt and blue jeans. She was last seen walking with a dog named Moanlisa, described as a Catahoula mix breed, white with brown spots, with brown choke collar and a light brown vest with a bell on it.

Mayo is described as Asian with a small build, 5 feet and 3 inches tall, 125 pounds, with black (salt and pepper) shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.

Police ask anyone with information on Mayo’s whereabouts to please call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
