DUI Stats

During the week of Feb. 9, through Feb. 15, 2026, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 19 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 95 DUI arrests compared with 123 during the same period last year, a decrease of 22.76 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 137 major crashes so far this year, compared with 114 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 20.18 percent.

As of Feb. 15, there have been four fatal crashes, resulting in four fatalities compared with five fatal crashes, resulting in five fatalities for the same time last year. This is a decrease of 20 percent for fatal crashes and a decrease of 20 percent for fatalities.  

In 2026, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) was zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year. 

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
