DUI Stats

During the week of Jan. 19, 2026, through Jan. 25, 2026, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 14 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Eight of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 51 DUI arrests compared with 66 during the same period last year, a decrease of 22.73 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 73 major crashes so far this year, compared with 63 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 15.87 percent.
As of Jan. 25, there have been two fatal crashes, resulting in two fatalities compared with two fatal crashes, resulting in two fatalities for the same time last year.
In 2026, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) was zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
