Police Investigating Hilo Robbery

Hawai‘i Island police are investigating a robbery that occurred at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, in front of a business in the 200 block of Kanoelehua Avenue in Hilo.

The male victim reported that he was alone when he was approached by three men and a heated conversation began. The victim reported that one suspect kicked him in the jaw, after which the other two joined in and repeatedly struck him. During the assault, one of the suspects allegedly removed cash from the victim’s pants pocket.

The victim was transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center and treated for a fractured jaw and a concussion. 

One suspect was described as a local male in his 20s to 30s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt, a gold-colored chain, and a green-and-yellow “Athletics Team” brand baseball cap. A second suspect was described as a local male in his 20s to 30s, 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds, wearing a gray shirt, a gold-colored chain, and a black hat. A description of the third male suspect was not available. Photos of the suspects are not available.
