DUI Stats

During the week of Dec. 29, to Dec. 31, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested five motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. One of the drivers was involved in a traffic crash.
In 2025, there were 899 DUI arrests compared with 964 during the same period last year, a decrease of 6.74 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 1,009 major crashes so far in 2025, compared with 990 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 1.92 percent.
As of Dec. 31, 2025, there were 19 fatal crashes, resulting in 21 fatalities compared with 26 fatal crashes, resulting in 29 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 26.62 percent for fatal crashes and 27.59 percent for fatalities.
In 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) was zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
