Waikoloa School Celebrates Red Ribbon Week 2025

Waikoloa School students, staff, and families came together to celebrate Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31, with the theme: “Life is a Puzzle — Solve It Drug Free.” The week featured a variety of fun and educational activities encouraging students to make healthy, positive choices and to embrace a drug-free lifestyle.
With the assistance of school staff and volunteers, School Resource Officer Kui Dela Cruz decorated the campus with banners, posters, and displays, and SRO Dela Cruz visited classrooms to talk about the effects of drugs on your body, the meaning of Red Ribbon Week and led engaging activities throughout the school.
Students in grades K to 8, participated in a sign waving activity, with posters they decorated, spreading drug-free messages to motorists. Students also took part in the Red Ribbon Week poster contest and received popsicles generously purchased by the Waikoloa PTSA, for pledging to be drug free. On one day, students, teachers and staff all wore the color red.
Police would like to thank the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office and Waikoloa PTSA for their support and partnership.
