DUI Stats

During the week of Sept. 29, to Oct. 5, 2025 Hawai‘i Island police arrested 19 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Seven of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 696 DUI arrests compared with 755 during the same period last year, a decrease of 7.81 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 777 major crashes so far this year, compared with 758 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 2.51 percent.
To date, there have been 16 fatal crashes, resulting in 17 fatalities compared with 21 fatal crashes, resulting in 23 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 23.81 percent for fatal crashes and 26.09 percent for fatalities.
So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
