Kamuela Man Charged with Numerous Drug Offenses

Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged a Kamuela man with numerous drug offenses following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at his residence in Kamuela at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Vice officers arrested 46-year-old Joel Gorai after recovering the following from his residence:
· 24.16 grams of methamphetamine
· 21.7 grams of cocaine
· 381.7 grams of marijuana
· 17.2 grams of marijuana edibles
· 14 grams of marijuana concentrate (vapes)
· 50 grams of Psilocybin
various narcotic-related paraphernalia, including digital scales and clean and used zip packets.
After conferring with the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office, Vice detectives charged Gorai with the following offenses:
• Four counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
• One count of Second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug
• Two counts of First-degree promotion of a harmful drug
• Two counts of fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug
Gorai has a total bail of $143,025.00. Joel Gorai remains in custody awaiting his initial court appearance.
