Police Charge Honolulu Man With Drug Offences After Recovering Five Pounds of Methamphetamine

Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged 29-year-old Sione Misinale, of Honolulu, with methamphetamine-related drug offenses following a traffic stop in Kea‘au.

At 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, Vice Section officers, in coordination with Homeland Security Investigations, stopped a vehicle driven by Misinale. He was arrested, and the vehicle was recovered pending a search warrant.

The next day, Vice detectives executed the search warrant and recovered 2,668.95 grams (5.9 pounds) of methamphetamine.

After conferring with the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office, Misinale was charged with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of first-degree promotion of a Dangerous Drug
  • Criminal littering
  • Driving without a valid driver’s license
  • No motor vehicle insurance

His bail was set at $502,000. Misinale is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Monday afternoon, Sept. 15, in South Hilo District Court.
