DUI Stats

During the week of June 2, through June 8, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 16 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Seven of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 411 DUI arrests compared with 423 during the same period last year, a decrease of 1.99%.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 449 major crashes so far this year, compared with 443 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 1.35 percent.
To date this year, there have been 12 fatal crashes, resulting in 13 fatalities compared with 15 fatal crashes, resulting in 17 fatalities for the same time last. This represents a decrease of 20 percent for fatal crashes and 23.52 percent for fatalities.
So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
