Hilo Woman Charged with Credit Card Fraud

Hawai‘i Island police arrested and charged 23-year-old Alohi Kaupu-Grace of Hilo with various offenses stemming from an unauthorized transaction made with a victim’s credit card on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
On May 2, 2025, the victim contacted police reporting that he received a text from his credit card company alerting him of a fraudulent charge made to his account in excess of $750. Detectives with the Area I Criminal Investigation Section continued the investigation and Kaupu-Grace was identified as the person responsible for the unauthorized transaction and had obtained the victim’s personal confidential information while employed at her former place of employment.
On May 23, 2025, after conferral with the County Prosecutor’s Office, Kaupu-Grace was charged with the following offenses:
- Second-degree theft
- Second-degree identity theft
- Unauthorized possession of personal confidential information
- Fraudulent use of a credit card
Kaupu-Grace’s bail was set at $8,000.
