The Hawaiʻi Police Department is upgrading its telephone systems at the Kealakehe Police Station in Kona and the Kaʻū Police Station in Nāʻālehu.

During the transition, telephone service at each station will be temporarily unavailable during the following dates and times:

Kealakehe Police Station (Kona)

  • Tuesday, June 9, 2026
  • 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Kaʻū Police Station (Nāʻālehu)

  • Tuesday, June 16, 2026
  • Noon to 2 p.m.

The temporary outage will affect only the stations’ telephone systems. Police services will continue uninterrupted, and officers will remain available to respond to calls for service.

Members of the public are reminded to call 911 for emergencies and (808) 935-3311 for non-emergency police assistance. Calls for service are dispatched through the department’s Emergency Call Center and will not be affected by the upgrade.

Regular telephone service at both stations is expected to resume immediately following the completion of the scheduled upgrades.
