A marked police sport utility vehicle will serve as the collection point\, and officers will be on hand to greet community members and assist with donations. \nAll toys collected during this one-day event will be donated directly to The Salvation Army for distribution to families across West Hawai‘i.

During these sessions\, officers discuss crime and traffic trends\, the importance of reporting elder abuse\, as well as ways to identify and prevent financial and internet crimes. The goal is to strengthen trust\, promote safety\, and build positive relationships through direct\, face-to-face interaction. \nThe next Kupuna Watch outreach meeting is scheduled for Tuesday\, Dec. 16\, 2025\, from 10 to 11 a.m.\, at the Sgt. Rodney J.T. DESCRIPTION:Hawai‘i Police Department’s South Kohala Community Policing Section invites youth and their families to the department’s first-ever Youth Car Show on Saturday\, September 6\, 2025\, at Waikoloa Plaza Shopping Center\, 68-1820 Waikoloa Road\, Waikoloa. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with check in from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. \nOpen to youth 17 years of age and younger\, this free\, family-friendly event promotes responsibility\, safety\, and pride in automotive interests. The event is limited to the first 50 registered vehicles\, and all participants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the event. \nTo participate\, vehicles must be street legal\, with valid registration and safety inspection\, unless trailered in. Only licensed drivers may operate vehicles on public roadways. No revving\, burnouts\, or unsafe vehicle operation will be tolerated\, and respectful behavior is expected at all times. \nInterested youth may register by scanning the event QR code\, picking up a registration form at the South Kohala Police Station\, or by emailing Officer Edward Lewis at edward.lewis@hawaiicounty.gov. DESCRIPTION:The Hawaii Police Department’s Kona Community Policing Section\, in partnership with the Kona Costco\,  the Hawai‘i Food Basket\, and KAPA Radio personality Tommy Ching\, is pleased to announce the fourth annual Fill A Police Cruiser Food Drive slated for Friday\, August 29\, 2025\, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.\, at the Kona Costco warehouse parking lot. \nA blue and white marked police cruiser will be stationed in front of Costco\, where Costco members and the general public are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items. Donors will have the opportunity to place their contributions directly into the police cruiser and take a photo with officers. \nIn the past four years\, the Fill A Police Cruiser Food Drive has successfully collected over 11\,301 pounds of food and $18\,958 in monetary donations. This year all donations will stay on Hawai‘i Island and benefit local families and individuals in need. \n
