SUMMARY:Puna Kupuna Watch Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Puna Community Policing Section will hold its first-ever Puna Kūpuna Watch meeting on Thursday\, April 9\, 2026\, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pāhoa Senior Center\, 15-3016 Kauhale Street\, in Pāhoa. \nKupuna Watch is a free monthly outreach program designed to promote safety awareness\, strengthen communication between police and residents\, and support efforts to keep neighborhoods safe\, particularly for seniors. During these meetings\, officers share crime and traffic trends\, the importance of reporting elder abuse\, as well as ways to recognize and prevent financial and internet-related crimes. \nThe Puna meetings build on the success of similar meetings launched in Kona last fall. \nFuture monthly Puna Kupuna Watch meetings will be held the second Thursday of the month at various locations throughout Puna. \nCommunity members are encouraged to attend\, ask questions\, and take part in this informative gathering. \nFor more information\, please contact Officer Eddie Cardines at ecardines@hawaiipolice.gov or call the Pāhoa Police Station at (808) 965-2716.

DESCRIPTION:Hawai‘i Police Department’s Kona Community Policing Section in collaboration with the Hawai‘i Island Police Activities League (HI-PAL) is teaming up with Kai’ Opua Canoe Club and Kai ‘Ehitu Canoe Club for the fourth annual HI-PAL Outrigger Canoe Regatta in Kona on Saturday\, April 11\, 2026. \nKeiki age 12 to 18 and clubs are encouraged to sign up now to participate in the HI-PAL regatta\, which will feature 14 different events. It’s a fun opportunity for keiki to paddle with their club teammates\, high school teammates\, or their friends that may paddle for a different club or high school. \nHere’s the HI-PAL Canoe Regatta schedule: \n\nLocation: Kailua Pier\, 75-5664 Ka‘ahumanu Place\, Kailua-Kona\nCheck-in: 7:00 a.m.\nOpening Ceremony: 9:00 a.m.\nRaces Start: shortly after the opening ceremony\nLunch and Award Ceremony: following the last race\nPau: 12:30 p.m.\n\nEach participant (guardian) must complete a HI-PAL permission/release form.
